:: ABOUT ME – MY SELF ::
Hi!
I, D.K.Chittoria, joined LIC as Development officer on 7th March, 1989. Today, I have completed satisfactorily 27 years of service with LIC and have a team of 205 Agents. During this long journey, on the basis of my performance, I was decorated with Bima Shiromani and double gold medal by LIC and ranked 1st in Division, 3rd in Zone and 5th in All India and have also been authorised to run SBA-Senior Business Associate (A MINI LIC BRANCH).Today, by the grace of God, I have received recognition and honour from everyone, starting from the Chairman of LIC to the Branch Head.
BACKGROUND
For my background, I can say that I belong to a middle class educated family. Before joining Bharatiya Jeevan Bima Nigam as Development officer, I had worked for UCO Bank, Agriculture Ministry and Indian Airlines. I was an accomplished student during my student life which included my acclaimed participation in extra-curricular activities like debate, quiz competitions, cultural activities etc. I was the President of Economic Society of my college. While continuing with my job, I completed my MBA and L.L.B and am presently pursuing L.L.M.
REASONS TO JOIN LIC
I joined LIC as Development officer through open market quota. Primarily because of two reasons I have joined this organisation (i) in general, all my family members held official grade administrative posts (ii) I wanted to be stationed/ posted in Delhi with my parents. LIC fulfilled both these wishes of mine. This decision of mine proved to be the most blessed one in my life……I got much more than I have ever visualised or dreamt. Thanks to Almighty.
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
In 1989, I was the youngest officer of my batch. LIC recognised my achievements in the first 6 months of service, by giving me an appreciation letter. This was my start with LIC. After that, I have never looked back, thanks to the blessings of my elders especially my parents and guidance from my two mentors – Late H. P. Rajput and my younger brother Navin Chittoria. Special mention may be made here, about the fact that I was decorated with Bima Shiromani and double gold medal by LIC in 1994. On the basis of my performance, In terms of ranking I stood 1st in Division, 3rd in Zone and 5th in All India. In Delhi, there are one thousand Development officers, only 52 of them, on the basis of their performance, have been authorised to run SBA (A MINI LIC BRANCH) where public can avail almost all services provided by an LIC branch. For my different successful professional endeavours, I have received recognition and honour from everyone, starting from the Chairman of LIC to the Branch Head.
TEAM & NATURE OF JOB
I have a team of 205 Agents. To manage this team of Agents, to distribute work among them, supervise them and see that they achieve their targets is an integral part of my job. And to execute all these things successfully I have dedicated administrative staff.
Nature of my job is very challenging. It always makes me feel young and energetic. If I happen to miss the pulse of the insurance market, my team of agents and I have to bear the consequences. In fact, in today’s competitive market, where buyer is educated and intelligent, we have to come out with analytical and comparative presentations and suggest our esteemed clients, not only the life insurance related solutions but complete solutions for their financial investments. It definitely requires continuous hard work with an innovative approach. Intermittently, I provide practically possible motivating boosters to my agents to keep their moral high which is another challenge that I have to meet diligently.
SOCIAL COMMITMENTS
In addition to my professional commitments, I have designated my time for social welfare also. For this, I am one of the core members of few NGOs like KRITI (providing education to spastic children), Manav Jagriti Sansthan( cremating the abandoned dead bodies).
MY CONVICTIONS
Though I am a common man, I came to know from my near and dear ones that there are few things about myself which make me different from others. One of them is we have to give first, then only we can get, what we have desired for.
We should dispense our due duties with utmost sincerity and should leave the result in God’s hands and should welcome things as they come. I welcome mistakes, but repetition of the same mistake, for me is non sincerity.
Our life is shaped and driven by our thoughts. We will be, as we think. So, I always think positive and spread the positivity where ever I am.
Sharp memory is the need of my job, but here, I do not allow my mind to store the ego based trivial things.
Better to win the hearts, then to rule the heads….is the core conviction I believe in. So I love family and family environment and the same I extend to my team members.
SPECIAL MENTION
In 2004, because of the large-scale changes in LIC, I was very frustrated and sense of hopelessness was there but through the guidance and cooperation of my younger brother Navin’s Guruji who was also my Guruji, I successfully sailed through the crisis and re-established myself. That time, I learnt the biggest lesson of my life i.e. EVOLUTION- is an essence of life and a critical factor to determine the pace and extent of your success in all endeavours, whatever one pursues. According to the changed time and circumstances you have to continuously and positively sharpen your strategy to deal with the challenges. The same I did and brought forth some changes in myself and till date, these changes are in vogue.
